    föräldraledig och förskola

My firstborn will be 2 years old in July and we are expecting a second child at the end of August.

I'm not sure how it works with the preschool

We have already completed a 2 month holiday abroad to spend time with the first child. Now towards the end of the pregnancy, my husband will take paternity leave to prepare and help me with the last weeks of the pregnancy.

    1. Will my son lose his place at preschool?
    2. I know my husband is entitled to paternity leave but how have others prepared for the second birth while their first is going back to preschool?
    3. Do preschools give families with a newborn time to settle in?

    1. Depending on which municipality you live in your child can be away for 1-3 months without losing his place. Some preschools and municipalities can allow longer time away if asked.

    2. Some parents use their combined days so both can have paternity leave at the same time to make it possible to handle both preschool and the new born. But at the same time some parents keep the older kid at home during the first time to prevent the new born from catching any illness from preschool. But that usually only during winter.

    3. You have the right to have your preschool child 30 hours per week instead of the normal 15 hours per week when you have paternity leave for a new born. Other than that I don't know.

A comment: How many hours you van have your preschool child at preschool during parental leave varies. Some municipalities have 15 hours as a maximum, some have 20.

15 hours is minimum according to the law. But that's also were most municipalities have their maximum. Some municipalities even have 25 hours.

True: but it is something TS should be aware of, that it varies.
